Karen Kingsbury, the well-known novelist, was a speaker at LifeWay’s dotMom Conference this past weekend. She spoke on defining ourselves as moms. I loved it when she said: “We as moms have the opportunity to write a best seller with the days of our lives.” This is how according to Karen:
1. Keep in mind we need to love well. Remember love is an action word. (1 John 3:18)
2. Color your lives and your children’s with laughter. Proverbs 17:22 says: “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
3. Speak life into your children. How?
Saturate your children with Jesus.
Remember the people around your table are your best friends.
Be available, especially at night. Listen to them. Encourage them. Pray with them.
Be a team with your husband.
Teach them to listen for the “whisper of the miraculous.” (1Kings 19:11-12)
4. Lift your children to Jesus. Then He will be the Hero of the story.
