Big Idea: There is hope because Jesus is alive!
On a Friday afternoon long ago, Jesus died on a cross. His disciples and friends were sad because they thought He was gone.
But early Sunday morning, just as the sun began to shine, Mary Magdalene and the other women traveled to the tomb where Jesus’ body had been placed.
The women took jars of spices and bottles of perfume so they could wrap Jesus’ body in sweet smelling fragrance. But just as they neared the tomb, the earth began to shake and rock under their feet. Mary Magdalene and the other women were afraid.
Then God’s angel came down from heaven and appeared just where the women where standing. The angel took hold of the big stone in front of Jesus’ tomb and rolled it away from the door.
Then the angel said: “Don’t be afraid. I know you’re looking for Jesus, but He is not here. He is not dead. He is alive! Come look inside the tomb and you’ll see that it is empty.” Then the angel told them to go quickly and talk to Jesus’ followers. The angel said: “Tell them He is alive, and He will meet them again soon.”
